Carnegie Shadowers – reading and reviewing brilliant books!
Posted by Aston Manor |
The Carnegie medal is awarded to the best Children and Young Adult’s book every year and every year pupils across the UK read the eight books which have been shortlisted for this award and submit their reviews on a National Website! The pupils are called shadowers because, like shadows, they follow these books on their journey from being nominated to the eventual announcement of the winning book.
A HUGE well done to the following pupils who’ve been reading the eight shortlisted books since March, and have written 73 reviews between them which is incredible!
Yusuf Iqbal, Gedeon Mavedilla, Omer Syed Riaz, Habibah Yesmin, Mariam Mohammed, Fatima Gakou, Nasrien Shouqr, Shirhaan Mahamed, Bianca Fuiorea Maria, Easha Ali, Aisha Mohamud, Eman Suleman, Isatou Sowe, Aziza Al-Amin, Halima Goni and Malayka Fatima.
It’s great to see so many pupils enjoying reading – especially books which they may not have picked up before this award. We hope this encourages more of you to take part next year to make our group of shadowers even bigger!
