Myself and Ms Bartley took a group of Year 11 pupils to South-City College to attend Role Model Event where they had the opportunity to meet various exhibitors – local and national employers, talk to local role models about how they got to where they are today. They also had impartial careers, training and learning advice. All pupils really enjoyed this experience and now are thinking about their future.
Congratulations to Lekkari Moses, Josiah Panton and John Daley in year 7.
They have been selected to play for Aston, Saltley, Erdington and Sutton Coldfield U12’s district football team.
Out of many schools from Aston, Saltley, Erdington and Sutton Coldfield these three pupils were successful over a two week trial. It’s a great achievement.
Please visit our school calendar to get a view of all the up and coming events as well as all the term dates for the next two years. Please check regularly as more dates may be added.

On Thursday 2nd March, Aston Manor’s Debating Club sent two teams to Harborne Academy for the first round of DebateMate’s Urban Debate League. Each team took part in a pre-prepared debate about the legalisation of euthanasia and an un-prepared debate about an 8pm curfew for under 16s! The ‘A’ team of debating veterans from last year included Reshma Begum, Ayan Abdullahi, Siham Omar, Cassandre Ndjendje and Muna Dirir. They beat teams from St Alban’s Academy and Great Barr School with two excellent performances. The ‘B’ team, taking part in their first ever competition, included Younis Iqbal, Aleema Hoque, Jenine Smikle, Nadia Hoque and Shareen Mohammed. They did not let inexperience get in their way and beat teams from Harborne Academy and St Alban’s Academy. Both teams did Aston Manor proud and are already preparing for the next round next half term!
If you are interested in taking part, learning how to argue properly and representing Aston Manor, come and see Mr O’Donoghue in E2. Debating Club runs afterschool every Monday with our University mentor from Aston University.

The Y11 History trip to Goodrich Castle last week was a great success. The sun was shining and the students ate ice – cream. They also gathered information about the castle, which is required for their controlled assessment.
Thanks to the staff who helped run the trip and thanks to the students for making it an enjoyable day out.
