A Basketball team made up of predominately year 8s travelled to King Edwards Aston to compete against two other schools using year 9 pupils. It was the team’s first match and they performed very well and did themselves proud.

In the first fixture we started slowly whilst we adapted to the pace of play and lost convincingly to KEA by 6 baskets. Our second fixture against Perry Beeches we were the better team, we played excellent man to man defence and scored two great baskets through big Ayub. We lost a game we deserved to win by one point…..a free throw right at the end of the game! In the third game everybody got to play, we played KEA again and performed much better than the first fixture. We passed the ball better and had we scored from more of the many situations we created with slick passing and movement the score would have been much closer.

Overall an excellent start against older bigger players, if the lads continue to practice there is no doubt they can win the same competition next year.
